Our Car Window Repair and Replacement Process

Car window repair and replacement refers to windows within the vehicle’s doors or sunroof windows. At Glass Doctor, we offer services geared to the repair, replacement and maintenance of all auto glass – including windshields! Learn more about

Most auto glass windows that are cracked or chipped will require replacement, as will any windows that are broken or shattered.

To replace your car window, your local Glass Doctor will:

  1. Assess the damage: Our technician will determine what needs to be replaced. Depending on the extent of the damage, it’s possible that some of the car door’s internal hardware will also need to be replaced to ensure a professional, long-lasting result. During this phase, your local Glass Doctor may need to peel back the interior door panel.
  2. Remove the old window: Glass Doctor technicians will carefully remove the broken window, loose shards and any broken hardware.
  3. Replace the window: Using quality auto glass that meets AGRSS/ANSI standards, we will replace the window and any broken assembly components.
  4. Reassemble and test: Glass Doctor technicians will carefully reassemble the door’s window assembly and test the window to ensure it functions properly.

How Long Does Emergency Car Window Replacement Take?

Occasionally, these service calls can be completed on-site by one of our mobile service professionals in about an hour. However, your technician may need to order replacement glass based on the size and specifications of the existing pane. In this case, your technician will schedule a follow-up appointment to install the replacement glass.

Your car insurance company or car warranty often covers the cost of replacement. Contact your local Glass Doctor to learn about the availability of mobile services.
