Double Pane Windows

Dallas, Texas homes and buildings are built to withstand unforgiving summers, but windows will weaken over time. Seals will break, crack and fail, making windows every building's main source of energy loss. A milky appearance or condensation under the panes are indicators that your window seals have a leak. Glass Doctor® of Dallas, TX encourages you to schedule an in-home inspection of your window panes and seals.

Benefits of Insulated Glass Units

Insulated glass units (IGUs) balance and help regulate your interior air, keeping it comfortably consistent. That climate consistency will lower your energy loss and energy costs, an especially important consideration for every homeowner. IGUs reduce interior heat and cool air loss through windows while blocking exterior air extremes, and this allows a consistent temperature in every room.

An insulated glass unit has two or more pieces of glass with an insulating spacer between them that separates the panes of glass and seals the space between each pane. Spacers may be filled with a moisture-absorbing material called a desiccant or be made from material that makes it a warm-edge glass spacer. Then, the perimeter of the entire window unit is sealed with a high-grade coating that prevents condensation between the panes. Some IGUs have argon or krypton gas added to the airspace between the panes to provide even more insulation properties.
