Double Pane Windows
Homes in Hale, MI, experience everything from warm summers to winters with temperatures that fall well below zero. These climate extremes affect your home’s windows, which, if damaged, let warm air inside your home during the summer and out during the winter. This makes your home’s indoor environment vulnerable to frequent temperature changes. Windows that aren’t properly sealed let climate-controlled air out and drafts in.
To make the temperature inside your home more consistent and comfortable, Glass Doctor® of Northeast Michigan installs insulated glass units (IGUs). Even if you already have double pane windows, a type of insulated glass, they will operate inefficiently if they have broken seals. A telltale sign of this problem is condensation or a blurry, milky appearance between the panes. Whether you need window replacement or installation, trust Glass Doctor of Northeast Michigan to do the job right.
Insulated Glass Units
What are the benefits of insulated glass?
Insulated glass keep warm air from transferring to cooler areas, so climate-controlled air always stays inside. Your home will be more comfortable, and your energy bills will be lower. They’ll also help increase the value of your home.
How does insulated glass work?
Insulated glass has at least two pieces of glass with an insulating spacer in between the panes. This spacer separates the panes and seals the space between them, making it harder for moisture and condensation to get in. For even more protection against moisture, spacers can be filled with a special material that absorbs water or with gases like argon or krypton to provide even more insulation. Some IGUs also have a warm-edge glass spacer, known as a “super spacer,” this helps add structural strength in case of high winds or snow loads, which can be important in Northeast Michigan winters. It also makes the window further resistant to condensation.
In addition to these insulating qualities, the unit’s entire perimeter is sealed with a special, high-quality adhesive to provide even more protection against moisture.
