Windshield Repair and Replacement
Glass Doctor® of Cadillac helps you decipher between windshield repair or replacement. Whether your vehicle needs repair or replacement services, our auto glass specialists will ensure your vehicle’s architectural strength is restored. Your safety is our primary concern.
Glass Doctor of Cadillac will always attempt to repair a windshield if possible. If a repair cannot be performed successfully, our auto glass specialists will replace your vehicle’s windshield. To determine the best solution for your vehicle, our specialists consider the location, size and timespan the damage has been left unattended.
Windshield damage extending longer than three inches and chips bigger than a quarter merit a full windshield replacement. Damage towards the edge of the windshield also merits a replacement to prevent damage from spreading across the glass. Whenever your vehicle’s windshield has damage, big or small, it is important to get it treated as soon as possible.
Repair Over Replacement
At Glass Doctor Cadillac we always recommend windshield repair before replacement for four reasons:
- It's convenient, usually done in an hour or less
- It's less expensive
- Total cost is often paid by the insurance company
- It's the "greener" alternative, keeping one more item out of your local landfill
A typical windshield repair involves one of our auto glass specialists removing any residual debris from the damaged area, sometimes drilling a small hole to provide a flow channel, and then adding specialized resin. Once the resin cures it's polished to a clear finish.
Replacement Instead of Repair
Approximately 60% of the architectural strength of a vehicle during a rollover accident depends on the windshield. Our auto glass specialists follow steps and procedures set by the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards® and use only adhesives approved by the Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC).
During a replacement, a specialist will remove your damaged windshield with extra care to preserve your vehicle’s painted surfaces and the bonding area. A windshield, matching the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) quality, will then be placed and secured to your vehicle. Once the windshield has undergone an hour's wait, your vehicle will be ready to drive.
Windshield Protection Plan
Glass Doctor of Cadillac backs its replacement services with the Windshield Protection Plan. This is a one-time-only offer and excludes materials, labor, molding, and clips. We also offer a Full Service Windshield Protection Plan for an additional fee.
