Double Pane Windows
Double pane windows, also called insulated glass units (IGUs), are an easy way to increase your home's energy efficiency. They keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, providing extra insulation from heat transfer. Glass Doctor® of Nassau County installs IGUs that will keep homes’ energy costs in check while adding value to your abode.
How Insulated Glass Works
Double pane windows stop heat from transferring through your windows. This means that heat stays inside in the winter and outside in the summer. The result is a more consistent indoor temperature, so you will run your heating and cooling systems less.
Insulated glass units seal a pocket of air between two panes of glass. Because air does not transmit heat well, instead of passing through the glass, it is bounced back the other way. Sometimes, to add even more insulation, argon or krypton gas is added to the space between the panes.
