Double Pane Windows

Your home's windows are responsible for the greatest amount of temperature exchange with the outdoors. A window that is not well sealed or insulated will release climate-controlled air and allow drafty air inside. Glass Doctor® Home + Business of Boulder fixes broken seals on windows, performs double pane window replacements, and installs insulated glass units (IGUs) in your home. These regulate your house's temperature and reduce temperature exchange.

Benefits of Double Pane Windows

In summer, insulated glass keeps your home cool by preventing warm air from entering. In winter, IGUs keep drafty cold air outside your home. This makes your home more comfortable. You won't need to run your heat or air conditioning as much, which will cut down on your energy bills.

An IGU has at least two pieces of glass separated by a spacer. The spacer provides insulation by separating the two panes and sealing them. Depending on its construction, there may be a moisture-absorbing desiccant inside the spacer, or it may be a warm-edge glass spacer like a super spacer.

We use a high-quality sealant around the edges of our IGUs. This keeps condensation from appearing between the two panes and keeps the glass better insulated. Depending on the IGU you choose, there may be a gas like krypton or argon between the two panes, which creates further insulation.

Insulated Glass Replacement

We specialize in window glass replacement. This doesn't always mean replacing the whole window. Our glass specialists install IGUs in existing windows, for far less money than a complete window replacement.
