Double Pane Windows

Double pane windows are marvels of modern engineering. They are designed to keep the outdoor elements from affecting your home’s indoor air temperature while providing crystal clear views to the outside. They save you money on heating and cooling costs, look great and improve your home's value. But even the best windows wear down over time.

When your windows wear down, seals break, humid air seeps inside and the glass takes on a milky appearance. If condensation forms between your panes, it’s time to contact Glass Doctor® of Warren, MI.

How Double Pane Windows Work

double pane window

Double pane windows are also referred to as insulated glass. These units are extremely energy efficient. Double pane windows allow you to spend less on your energy bills and maintain comfortable, consistent indoor air temperatures.

The window units are built with at least two panes of glass, an insulating spacer and either a desiccant or a warm-edged glass spacer to hold the panes. The entire window is then sealed with high-grade adhesive to prevent condensation from forming between the panes of glass. Many windows are fortified with argon or krypton gas, which provides an extra layer of protection against heat transfer.

The results are windows that allow you, the homeowner, to run your air conditioner less during the hot summer months and your furnace less during the cold winter months.
