Two Glass Doctor technicians replacing windshield

In order to determine whether you need windshield repair or replacement, our experts will evaluate the following factors:

Size: While we are able to repair all minor damages, cracks longer than three inches and chips bigger than 3/8 inch, typically require a replacement.

Location: Even small cracks that have splintered to the edges will ultimately require a replacement, as they have a tendency to spread. As a safety precaution, we strongly recommend that all windshields with damages located directly in the line of sight for the driver be replaced. Even the best windshield repair will leave a slight outline that may affect your vision.

Timespan: At Glass Doctor of Huntsville, Willis and Lake Conroe, we urge you not to wait to have a professional look at your windshield, if it has been damaged. With time, dirt and debris will build up and form residue, which will make it increasingly difficult to perform a successful repair.

Windshield Repair

We always recommend windshield repair over replacement, when possible. It is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative that your insurance provider often will approve. We work with all major carriers and will take care of the insurance filing for you, but it is recommended that you verify coverage before we begin the repair or installation process:

  • Convenience: Our experts are usually able to perform a windshield repair within an hour.
  • Inexpensive: Windshield repair is the budget friendly alternative, by far.
  • Insurance Advantages: Many insurance providers will waive your deductible and cover your expenses.
  • Environmentally Responsible: By keeping your old auto glass on the road, you will also keep it away from a landfill.

In order to repair your windshield, we begin by cleaning the damaged area, which sometimes will require a drill. Once the area has been prepared, the repair resin is injected with the help of a tool that attaches to the surface of the windshield. After the resin has been allowed at least on hour to cure, the repaired area is polished to a clear finish.

Windshield Replacement

It has been established by the Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) that your windshield constitutes between 45-60% of the structural integrity of your car in the event of an accident, although the percentage depends on the car manufacturer and model, and type of accident.

As proud members of the AGSC, we will ensure that your new windshield has been properly installed: from carefully removing the old windshield to avoid damage, leak and corrosion; selecting a new windshield matching the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) quality; and only using adhesives approved by the AGSC. After installation, please allow the adhesives at least one hour to cure.

We back our work with our free Windshield Protection Plan. If your windshield is damaged within 12 months of the original installation date, we will repair or replace it free of charge.
