Auto Glass Care

Glass Doctor® of Clinton Township, MI, offers a complete range of auto glass care services, from windshield repair all the way to complete auto glass replacement.

Windshield Care

The most common type of auto glass damage is a cracked windshield. Fortunately, our auto glass repair specialists can usually repair most small cracks and minor chips. Here are a few reasons to call us as soon as you discover windshield damage:

  • Safety: Your vehicle's windshield does more than protect you from debris and the elements; it's also a component of your car's structural integrity. Thanks to the strength of modern glass, auto designers count on windshields to help stabilize vehicles during crashes. In head-on collisions, windshields account for about 45% of the structural strength, and as much as 60% in rollover accidents. Cracks severely weaken windshields and leave occupants at risk.
  • Legality: Police are quick to write citations for damaged windshields since cracks and chips reduce visibility and weaken the glass. Avoid a costly citation by calling us as soon as possible.
  • Timely repairs are cheaper: Cracks spread quickly and become too large to safely repair. This means the windshield will have to be replaced, which is more expensive. Don't let a small problem worsen.

We perform windshield repairs at your location, usually in an hour or less. We'll help you with insurance paperwork to ensure you get the cheapest repair possible.

If the damage is too severe to repair, we can also replace the windshield on-site. This will take a little longer, due to safety guidelines established by the Automotive Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC). We use only Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) approved materials and will ensure components such as antennas, humidity and rain sensors and temperature gauges are properly installed on the new windshield.

Auto Glass Replacement

Unlike your car's windshield, which is made of laminated glass, other glass components cannot be safely repaired since they are made from a special type of tempered glass. Tempered glass is designed to shatter into hundreds of small pieces with smooth edges, reducing the risk of injury in a crash. Examples of this type of auto glass include:

  • Side windows
  • Rear windows
  • Sunroof glass
  • Quarter panel glass

Although we can't repair tempered glass, we can replace these items on-site. As with our replacement windshields, we use only OEE-approved glass and materials to ensure your vehicle is as good as new.

When you call us for auto glass replacement, we'll assess the damage and provide a written estimate. Once we have the required glass and parts, usually within 24 hours, we'll return to complete the job.

Windshield Protection Plan

If you call us to replace your windshield, we'll provide you with peace of mind for the next 12 months. If your windshield is damaged within that time, we'll repair the damage and all you pay for is labor. The guarantee also includes the price of one replacement windshield if needed. For additional protection, sign up for the Value Package plan. This covers the labor costs, as well as the installation of new wiper blades and the application of hydrophobic coating glass protectant. Hydrophobic Coating protects glass from scratches and stains, makes wipers more effective at removing water, and improves visibility in the rain.
